Alright, so you and your family have made the decision to get a puppy! Everyone is excited and can’t wait to pick out the newest family member from Petland Aurora, but wait, what breed should you get? What dog breeds have the least amount of health issues? While it is difficult to say for sure what breeds will be the healthiest; Here are just a few of the breeds that are constantly on the top for healthiest dog breed.
Australian Cattle Dog
Australian Cattle Dogs are working dogs; they were bred to help drive cattle in Australia. They love to run, herd and work for their families. They are a high energy and very smart dog that constantly needs to be challenged. These pups are larger than small dog breeds, but not quite what would be considered a large dog breed. They grow to be only about 30-35 pounds and live to be between 13-15 years old. Some live far past that number, in fact the dog that holds the world record for oldest dog is an Australian Cattle Dog named Bluey who lived to be over 29 years old.
Border Collies are always a favorite at Petland Aurora. They entertain and interact with everyone they encounter. Like the Australian Cattle dog, this collie is a working breed that loves to run. Border Collies are often used by farmers to help herd their other animals such as cows and sheep. They are a high energy dog breed and need to be exercised daily, both mentally and physically. Theses pups would be great to play in the back yard with your kids and run around with them. They do need to be brushed out often to avoid knots and matts in the beautiful long fur they have. They have a lifespan of 10 to 14 years and are sure to make a great addition to active families.
Mixed Breed Dogs
Yes, that's right, mix breeds are known to be pretty healthy pups. The reason behind this is with two different genetic breed backgrounds the pups have a better chance at avoiding some of the health issues those dog breeds are more prone to. While there isn't a list of the healthiest mixed breeds Petland Aurora's most popular mix dog breeds include, Morkies (a Maltese mixed with a yorkie) A walrus ( a Basset hound mixed with a Shar Pei ) as well as Goldendoodles ( Golden retriever mixed with a poodle).
